Bengaluru: Soon, Get Property Tax Information On QR Codes On Streets

BENGALURU: To encourage property owners to pay taxes on time, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to display their details on QR codes on nameboards of roads. The Palike recently launched the ‘Road Reader’ pilot project in Koramangala and Basavanagudi as part of its citizen-connect initiative.

Citizens can scan the QR codes put up on nameboards of streets to get details of the stretch, contact numbers of sweeper, waste collector/contractor and local MLA. Now, the civic agency plans to include details of properties situated on the street on the QR code.

“The public can view the list of those who’ve paid property tax and who are yet to do so once they scan the QR code. This will help the BBMP create awareness about property tax and improve collection,” said Jayaram Raipura, special commissioner (finance).
